The Penn State Alumni AssociationWhat’s been happening: Following graduation from Penn State I spent four more years in western Pennsylvania as Sales Manager of Beverly Farms, Inc's Greenville (PA) Dairy Co. Then I started an academic career at Clemson University, earned my PhD from the U. of Kentucky, was hired by Ohio State U., went to Brazil in 1964, learned Portuguese, taught there until 1967. Published the first full text in Agricultural Marketing (Comercializcao Agricola) in Portuguese in Brazil. Then spent 26 and 1/2 years at the USDA traveling the world as a development economist. Retired in 1997, I have published two books about my 34 year career working in 43 developing countries (from one hour to more than 3 years per country). "Food Soldier" was published in 2002. "Bushels and Bales: A Food Soldier in the Cold War" was published in 2008. I recommend that you read these by ordering from your favorite book store. (Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com feature both books.) CHEERS, HLS |
